Three shoeings post surgery
Below are pictures taken six weeks apart showing Apache's progress post shoeing. He's doing really well.
Now the foot has got to this stage it doesn't need regular dressings so I Cast the foot and packed it with a medicated hoof packing.
6 Weeks after Surgery
Here is an update of Apache who had surgery on his foot six weeks ago. Scroll back through older posts to learn more what got us to this point.
Apache seems to be going crazy at the thought of this much box rest!!
But now he's allowed some short spells in an out door pen he has a smile on his face :-)
Excessive flares
These pictures are of a very poor footed thoroughbred in desperate need of trimming. He has a strange triangular shaped foot which forms a peak at the front of his hoof wall. Due to a change of diet (from winter to summer) causing a growth ring and then excessive length of foot and flaring his foot nearly broke off all the way around which would have left him in serious trouble.
Looks like I got to him just in time!!
Bruising due to field change
This horse had this bruising just below the coronary band on all four feet! The only change was he moved fields and I expect maybe different levels of sugar in the grass has caused this.
