Reverse shoe!

Below is the shoe fitted to the horse featured below with the extremely long run forward heels. Rather than addressing the issues this shoe was put on to make everything a whole lot worse. Look closely so you realise this shoe is put on back to front with a heel extension and an open toe.

Removing a hoof wall

I took this picture at a recent dissection and thought it was a great example of what it looks like when the hoof wall is removed cleanly. This wasn't a healthy foot and should have a much higher blood supply.

Vets hands on Conference in Kent

This last weekend I was involved in doing a couple of lectures at a vets conference day in Kent. We then went on to all Map out and trim some feet, we were using cadaver limbs. This foot below caught my eye so I wanted to share it with you. Look at how long these heels are and as a result look at all the hemorrhaging that has been caused underneath. This horse was in a lot of trouble, and I don't doubt it was it's feet that brought it to an end.
