The season of Abscesses!
Here is a radiograph taken of an 9 month old colt - Ivor owned by Wendy Carberry. He was about 5/10 lame on his right front. He had quite a deep abscess on his medial heel. The dirt that became wedged in the abscess site is what you can see on the radiograph, this is not actually puss, that had already drained out.

An Under-run Sole I saw today
Here is a picture of April's foot a 2 year old. She has had an abscess that has under-run her sole. The new layer of sole underneath has hardened to an extent that she was ready to shed this top layer. The abscess also blew out the coronary band. Click on the image below to see this.
I'm on a role!

Check out this Pair of front feet. The worse thing you could do in this situation is try and make them a pair. They should be treated and shod for their own individual needs.
