Dougal's 40th Birthday

Below is Dougal a donkey that I have trimmed for many years that turns 40 this year. A remarkable age, even more remarkable is that Brenda Wickenden who owns him bred him too! Doesn't he look well.

Long Narrow Arab Feet

Below are a few pictures of a new Arab I got to shoe recently that had very long tube like feet. It was made very clear once one foot was trimmed just how much they benefited to being re-balanced. Just look at the difference in the coronary band height.

Cozy Laminitis Evening

Despite a few technical issues with not having the function room, not enough chairs, the heating on full blast, the pub not serving food and the intermittent power cuts......! I felt the evening went really well. I hope that everyone came away with some new information.

I certainly learnt a lot from Kate Coles presentation on Nutrition. She really broke it down with some practical things you could go away and check with your horse.

It astonished me to learn the sugar content in the foods we feed that equated to 12 grams of sugar/four sugar lumps. Just one apple or four carrots equated to 12 grams of sugar!

I'd like to thank the other two speakers Becky Flinn and Kate Coles for their fantastic informative presentations, and everyone for coming and making the evening happen, especially Penny Gardner for helping with the organising.
