International Hoof Care Summit...
I'm off to Cincinnati for the next week for the worlds largest Hoof Care conference with about 1000 farriers there from all over the world. There's about 72 hours of lectures over a four day period. I also get the opportunity to work at the trade show promoting the Equine Lameness Prevention Organisation. Lamanitic dressage horse
During that snowy weather we had after Christmas Ed Lyall one of the vets from Arundel picked my up as we needed to tend to a Dressage horse that had a bad onset of Laminitis in one of his hind feet! Firstly here are the radiographs of each of his hind feet you can see that the top picture looks pretty perfect and the lower picture (his offending foot) has had a lot of hoof capsule distortion-his toe's really long, some drastic trimming needed. You wouldn't think these two radiographs belonged to the same horse.
Here are some more pictures of the trimming and shoeing, there was a load of bruising on the sole of his foot and he we was exceptionally sensitive.
Information on Wet Horses
As I'm sure most of you by now have read my information sheet on Wet horses that I sent you, I thank you for your great response and understanding through these tough weather conditions. Many thanks.
Snow Issues!
I'd like to thank every one for their co-operation during this snowy period as most of your appointments have been postpone. I haven't wanted to risk getting stuck in my van but I did manage to do 7 trims in the village today getting there by my new mode of transport.....my sledge!
17 Year old Hala and her achievements to date
Hala is a little Arab mare owned and ridden by Dorothy Chuter that boxes down to the vets at Anvil for me to shoe every 6 weeks or so. I don't do many endurance horses but I love the fact that Dorothy can accurately tell me how many miles she has done on each set of shoes with the average being 100 miles! (which Dorothy says "is good value for money")
These are some of Dorothy and Hala's latest results, which to all non endurance people are quite impressive.
