Heel First Landing
This video shows how I had to elevate the heels by 10 degrees to correct the hoof pastern axis and enable Daisy to land heel first. She has had severe lameness issues relating to Navicular for years, this is the soundest she's been in a long time.
Resection of the hoof wall in a bad case of Seedy Toe
This is an example of a bad case of Seedy Toe. The only way to get to the bottom of this fungal infection is to trim away all the necrotic tissue and get in back to solid strong horn. The foot then needs to be made stable by use of a hoof re-building resin so that a shoe can be attached. Click on one of the images below to see the full case study.

Trimming European Style
I wanted to show you that I have taken on board some of the new things I got to see on my recent tip to Germany. Here is Forbes aged 9 holding his pony Mouse's foot up for me so I can just get on with the trimming. Thanks for all your help over the past years Forbes.
Dissection Evening on 23.9.08
Just thought I'd report on the successful Dissection evening that I held at my house last night it was well attended by 20 clients with strong stomachs! The feedback has all been positive with everyone feeling like they have a much better understanding of how things actually work on the inside. It lead to some great discussion with people relating a lot of what they saw to their own horses. I was pleased to see everyone get some gloves on and get stuck in themselves too. Here is a funny picture kindly taken by Max of Becky (also training to be a farrier) pinning the leg down for me.
