Pre-trim
This horse has severe Seedy toe. This is the foot pre-trimming, you can see the cavity in the front wall. Also look at how offset the foot is in relation to the leg.
-
Preparation
This is the foot after all the necrotic tissue was pared away. All the foot taken away was insensitive so the horse didn't feel any discomfort.
-
Drilling Lugs
To give something for the hoof filler to fix into little holes are drilled around the affected area.
-
FIlling the foot
A hoof filler called "Super Fast" was used in layers to re-build the foot, this then can be used in the same way as the hoof wall.
-
Waiting for the Filler to set
A film gets put across the filler whilst it sets.

Finished foot
The finished foot. The filler is so strong it can be nailed through just like the wall.
-
Un-trimmed
This is an un-trimmed foot that has Collateral Ligament Damage.
-
Trimmed
Notice how the heel position has changed due to a good trim.
-
Clog fitted
The finished foot with a Clog fitted to ease the break-over all the way round the foot to take tension off the Collateral Ligaments.
-
Founder case
This horse has foundered, which means the Pedal bone has rotated and sunk! The foot is also very long.
-
After shoeing
The foot is still quite long, but it's not possible to always make feet like this perfect in one go, as soundness is paramount not what they esthetically look like.
-
Hmmm a seriouis founder case
This pony had serious founder issues, and the hoof wall was also not strong enough to nail a shoe to so the Clog was screwed and glued in place.
-
After shoeing
This is the same foot after, look at the difference in the length of heel.
-
My Exam

Still Smiling
I'm still smiling, as the horse probably is too with me supporting half of it's weight!
-
After Trimming
This is my exam horse and the radiographs showed me that this horse had foundered.
