Negative Sole Plane > Shoeing with a 10 degree heel raise (6)
-
Before Radiograph RF
This is a radiograph taken with a 3 degree wedge pad already fitted. If you look at the pedal bone it is at a Negative angle. Also the Coffin Joint is under a lot of stress, there isn't an even gap across the joint surface.
-
RF Post Trim
This is the same foot without a shoe, post trimming. The heels are so low and when I feel around the bulbs of the heels there really isn't any structure or substance to the internal structures of the foot. This horse would have an exceptionally week digital cushion.

Equine Digital Support System
This again is the Right front but after shoeing. I have used a 3 degree wedge pad, a hard plate on the bottom of the foot, then fitted an EDSS shoe with some high rails. This has lifted her up a total of 10 degrees. You can see the difference this has made to the alignment of her bones.
-
After shoeing
This is the finished foot. I've used a hard flat pad as well to prevent any pressure coming up from the bottom of her foot.
-
Bruise in the bar
Due to her heels collapsing her bars also fold over and due to her weight on week feet the bars fracture and then bruise and sometimes abscess.
-
An ongoing problem
These bruises are an ongoing problem due to the lack of structure in her feet.
