Pippa had trodden on a shoeing nail and it was wedged in her foot just by the side of her frog. Because this was at the end of the shoeing period she'd grown a lot of foot and due to the height of the shoe it wasn't being embedded in any further than what you see in the pictures. Due to the amount of excess foot growth she had it didn't even go into the sensitive structures so no blood or lameness. She was very lucky as this is about the worst place on the foot to get a puncture wound.
