Front View after surgery
Crackers had a large Keratoma (tumor) in her hoof. It was surgically removed at Liphook Veterinary Hospital.

Oblique View
You can see how much foot has been removed. The whole area had to be kept as sterile as possible throughout the whole procedure.

Solar view
There is a fair amount of foot missing which can be seen clearly here.

Shoeing System
With a problem like this you have to keep adapting your shoeing plan to accommodate there needs. Due to the lack of foot at the front she was knuckling over her foot and was unable to walk. We nailed a pad onto her foot to stabilise the foot then had to screw another one onto that with a toe extension to stop her knuckling over onto her coronary band. We then needed to screw some rails on to raise up her heels to make her land better on her foot. After the shoeing she could get around quite well.

6 weeks later
This is 6 weeks later. You can see how much her foot has grown. Hoofs are very clever they will grow a lot more when damaged to try and recover as fast as possible.

From this front view you can see the damaged area has really begun to harden up.
