Solar view
This is a hind foot of Sophie's. She lost a shoe and during the process ripped off a lot of the hoof wall on either side. This left me nothing to nail to so I had to use a hoof filler and re-build her foot. Firstly I needed to clean up the foot removing any loose horn, dry it out and glue the shoe on. Then I built up the hoof wall to give myself something to nail into.

From the front
From this view you can clearly see how little there is for me to nail to. If you look closely you can actually see the striated lines of the insensitive laminae that are now exposed on both sides.

Inside view with filler
On this view of the inside I have filled the foot with a hard Epoxy resin. It sets in 30 seconds then I am able to nail through it.

Front View
Looks as good as new now.
