Left Front - 8weeks old
Gambler was 8 weeks old and ready for his first trim. The foot that they are born with is much softer than adult foot. It is refered to as "Foal Foot". The foal foot is from the grooved line on his foot downwards.
-
Front View - 8 Weeks
Again this is at 8 weeks old. The feet look quite distorted at this age as the coronary band is wider than the solar surface of the foot. Opposite to a fully grown foot. Also you can clearly see the groove half way down the foot where the foal foot is growing out.

Pair - 8 weeks
A front view of his stripy feet before his first trim.

Pre-second trim
This picture was taken just 6 weeks later when he was 16 weeks old. It is amazing just how quickly there feet grow. This can be seen very clearly as to how little foal foot there is to shed. This proves the importance of regular trimming as things can change so fast.

After Trim
I want you to note that his heel isn't really off the ground I think he was just about to take a step forward. You can see the flare at his toe as been rasped back.
-
Front View - 16 weeks
You can see already the foot is looking less distorted and the ground surface of the foot is no longer smaller than the coronary band.

5 1/2 Months Old
Amazingly at his next trimming Gambler was really developing quite adult like feet.

Front View at 5 1/2 months
All in all Gamblers developing very nice little feet.

His First Pair of shoes
I know it's not to do with his feet but I must comment on how well behaved he was. I put his first pair of shoes on without even a head collar on him and no-one making him stand there. He didn't move a muscle. When I finished I shod his Mum Peggy and Gambler followed me round like a lost puppy. We do have a very special bond, and it has been lovely being the only one to have done his feet from birth.
