Toe Crack
The first time I saw Rosebud she was barefoot with quite flared front feet. On her right front she had this crack which had formed a bit of a cavity filled with bacteria underneath.

Depth of Crack
Here I have placed a nail in the hole so you can get an idea of the depth. It is about 2cm deep.

Hoof Putty and Venice Turpentine
Here I have filled the crack with Keratex Hoof Putty and also painted Venice Turpentine on it. This keeps the bacteria away and will encourage it to grow out faster. I will continue to fill it each time I come back. A crack like this will go eventually but does take time.

A perfect little foot
This picture was taken today, 9 months after I first got to see her. As well as getting rid of the crack a big difference to note is how much straighter her hoof walls are now. All that flare has now gone. If you flick back to the first image and compare I think you'll be quite surprised with the changes that can be made. When the hoof wall is allowed to flare out you can see the pulling effect is has to the feet, and it is obvious why you can get toe cracks like this.
