Abscesses > Under-run Sole (3)
This is April a 2 year old that had a bad abscess and this is the result of the puss having under-run the sole.

Under-run Sole
Here you can see the top layer of sole has been removed and there is new fresh sole underneath. The sole is made up of lots of layers and sometimes an abscess under-runs a layer and with time these top layers then lift off to reveal a new hardening sole.

Blown out the coronary band
An abscess will work it's way out of the softest easiest part of the foot, unfortunately this is sometimes the coronary band. You can see here it came out the top as well, leaving this transverse crack.
