First shoeing
Here you can see I have been able to nail the shoe on (just!) I have used a hard pad on the bottom of the hoof to protect the foot from any dirt getting in there, but also to lock up the foot as it is far less stable since having this wall removed. I am then able to use a hoof packing under the pad to promote foot growth and to keep infection away.

Filler
This is on the same shoeing. Due to the wall missing on the inside it would be far to easy for Rimini to stand on the edge of the shoe and pull it off. Also it is very open where the infection has healed. I have used a poxy resin filler to fill this gap. The filler I used sets in 30 seconds and is then very similar to hoof wall and will stay there for a full 6 weeks if all the preparations when putting it on were done right!

The solar surface
This is what the underside of the foot looked like after a month. It has healed amazingly and will just need protecting for one more shoeing.

After
This is the same foot after 2 shoeings. Rimini is ready to go back to her regular Farrier now after her 3 visits to the vets. As you can see all has healed up now and she can be shod with no pad or filler.
